At my gym

Fact: She jogged (half the time 'fast walked') on the tread mill for 85 minutes.

Fact: She was in theater 1 at the gym.

Fact: She was hooked on a movie: The Italian Job. Such a great action film!

Fact: She left the gym with an adrenaline rush. And on her way home, she almost made a U turn towards the freeway. She wanted to taste how fast her car could go. She just wanted to see how it feels to floor it.

Fact: Her brother told her to get a Mini Cooper a couple months ago when she was shopping for a car. She told him they're just not her style. But she loved how Charlize Theron handled her Mini Cooper S in the movie.

Wishful Thinking: "If I'm really, really good in this life, can I come back as a stunt devil race car driver for Hollywood action films?"

Wanted: Sherpa to go on backpacking trips

I got my REI dividend a couple of days ago, and so did J. During dinner Friday night, conversation about what to do with our dividends had me laughing.

I was talking about hiking and making plans to go backpacking. Being the novice camper I am, that's pretty ambitious, but really I'm pretty serious about becoming a pro at this backpacking thing.

So we're having dinner at la cai noodle house:
J: I'm using my 20% discount and my dividend to buy a bike...
Me: (enough about him, lets talk about me haha) I know, I'll get myself a backpack! Oh what else would I need to go backpacking?
J: (he made me laugh when he said this) Well you could find someone that is shopping for a backpack at REI and give him your dividend if he'll carry your backpack for you when you go backpacking. See if you could get yourself a Sherpa at REI.
Me: That is a smart idea!

The above conversation is funny if you know me as well as J. We've gone hiking quite a bit last year, and he lets me put some of my stuff (okay most of my stuff) - snacks, water bottle, sunscreen lotion into his backpack. I do this for a reason, well two reasons. One is that it slows me down the more things I'm carrying while hiking. And slowing down is not my cup of tea because getting to the top before everyone else in my hiking group is "my secret ultimate goal of the day" haha only joking!. Reason two is... this is really hard for me to admit, but my knees hurt when I have a lot to carry on my back. Sad but true, I have weak knees. That is why I carry a fanny pant when I go hiking and not a backpack. So despite these reasons, let me live ambitiously and go backpacking my way, whether I invite you to go with me and let you be the stronger one and carry my backpack, or maybe I'll surprise myself as I make my way to the top while carrying my own backpack without anyone carrying it for me.

This morning, I've decided, with my REI dividend, I'll either buy a backpacking backpack or rock climbing shoes. Or J's brilliant idea: a Sherpa....

Now option two if I can't find a Sherpa at REI is Craiglists. Any good ideas for an ad? I'm low on creative juice for an effective Craigslist posting... "Wanted: stronger person to carry my backpack when we go backpacking and not make me feel bad about it."

Here are some pictures from last fall. Some friends and I hiked to a hot spring and had a great time.

I'd like to introduce you to my new and not so new...

My two cars are my babies. That’s about all the neediness I could handle… well possibly a dog or two in the near future. I love my Acura RSX and I love my Subaru Impreza 2.5 GT. Most people, when they buy a new car would trade in their older car. That wasn’t the decision I made. I wanted to keep the Acura and still buy a new car. I paid off the car a year and a half ago and now I’m making payments on the Subaru. But the freedom and independence of driving these fun cars make it worth it.

Love them both!

My addiction/curiosity/excitement for treats

via just be splendid Chocolate chip is one of my favorite classic flavors.

Tried and tasted over time, ice cream will always be an all time favorite treat. One of my most favorite flavors is Ben and Jerry's Pistachio Pistachio.

My latest favorite snack: Luna Protein Bars, Chocolate Cherry Almond. Luna is made by Cliff Bars, just for women. (i know, sexes but not really) I love this health bar! It tastes like a chocolate bar.

My latest treat curiosity: macaroon. Macaroon is the newest trendy dessert. I've had them in a form of rounded chocolate cookies with coconut sprinkled, but I've never had ones that are sandwiched, and I want one (or two). The question is where can I find them.

This truffle looking dessert makes my mouth water. I saw this picture while reading about condensed milk. Growing up in my household, you know that my mother is a coffee drinker. She always has to have her coffee in the morning. And the special thing she does each morning with her coffee is that she'd add condensed milk instead of cream and sugar into her coffee cup.

Greek yogurt on top of berries and cereal seem to be a popular craze among fitness and health bloggers. I think because it's protein rich and low in fat. I tried it once and thought the flavor was richer and more tarty than your regular yogurt. I'll have to try it again, but I'd like to see what the big fuss is around the claimed 'Best Greek Yogurt', the Oikos brand.

If you try any of these, let me know if you like them.

This is not my year for tax season

Say you start making more money last year, and somehow you should have went to Vegas and married, bought a house, and taken a couple of classes at the local college. Instead you got your higher income and did none of those things, and now dreading the tax season because you're single and you don't have any one or anything to claim for tax break. After some calculation, it turns out you'll be giving a couple more grand to the government. This must be what it feels like to have the govt. fist punch you you know where.(dirty)

I wonder if giving my little brother $1000 to help him with his move to DC, and lending my older brother my Acura would count for charity contributions tax deduction, cause that was the extend of my charity work last year.

Oh well, I'll feel better about tax season by reading some of the tax day humorous e-cards at http://www.someecards.com.

I want to play in Moab.
I want to go on a yoga retreat with fellow yogis.
I want to buy a backpack and hike the highest peaks on earth.
I want to jump out of an airplane and tandem skydive.
I want to lay on a sunny beach with a glass of mojito in my hand.
And I want to be loved by you.

But... but I don't want to wait and wait, for how many more days and months, for you to figure out that you rather not live in a world without me.

Such an athlete

I went indoor rock climbing and it was a lot of fun!

Me: I'm hoping to go snowboarding tomorrow.
Diane, my new climbing buddy: Wow, you're such an athlete!
Me: (timidly) I am?!? (and excited someone thought of me as an athlete)

See Mom and Dad, I can too be an athlete! And you thought I would only hurt myself if I played sports and stuff. So there, someone thought I was an athlete. :p I could have been a child athlete and made my way to the Olympics by now.
